Horses



Horses have been around for thousands of years there are over 300 breeds of horses.The smallest is the fellabella and largest Belgian.The first breed of horse lived around the ice age, and was about the size of a rabbit with split hooves.A female horse is called a mare and a male is called a stallion. Horses come in many colors from black to White the most popular colors are chestnut, White, and Black. Horses can gallop up to 60 mph at full speed. A baby horse is called a foal and are born with a curly main and tail and learn to walk within 3 min. In the wild, horses live in herds that is ran by a dominant male that has to protect up to 8 mares sometimes more. Younger stallions are stronger than some older stallions so they will fight by rearing up to win over the herd. Horses can also be tamed and kept as a pet they are used for riding in competition, and large draft horses are used to pull sleds on Christmas, or pulling carts for farming. Horses are a lot of work they have to be fed 3 times a day, ridden or exercised 2 times a day, Groomed 1 time a day, and there stall has to be cleaned once a day.
